Once you’re comfortable, our dentist in Lebanon will take digital X-rays of the area to evaluate the extent of your infection or traumatic injury. After we have all of the information needed for a proper assessment, we will review your treatment options with you. We’ll share all of the information and imaging with you so that you can assist us in co-planning your care.

Broken, Chipped Teeth — Accidental injuries during a ballgame or a slip in the bathroom can easily break a tooth. If possible, locate and keep your tooth fragment in a sealed container and cover it with milk or contact solution. If neither one is available you can use tap water and add a pinch of salt. It may be possible to bond it back into place or repair the area with dental bonding.
Knocked-out Teeth — Avulsed teeth need to be treated promptly (within 1-2 hours) if reinsertion is going to be successful. Only touch the crown of the tooth (the part that’s visible above the gumline) and avoid touching the root surface at all costs. If you see visible dirt, gently run the tooth under the faucet but don’t try to rub it clean. We recommend reinserting the tooth back into the socket when possible, but don’t force it. Store the tooth the same way you would a broken fragment above and bring it straight to Cartwright Dental.
Toothaches and Abscesses — Tooth pain can stem from decay, infected nerve tissue, exposed root surfaces, and more. Don’t expect the pain to go away with medication or resolve itself; infected teeth require professional attention to prevent the spread of bacteria or more severe dental emergencies. Always be sure to seek the care of a dentist, as hospital emergency rooms do not have the resources necessary to repair abscessed teeth.
Broken Dental Work — From old fillings falling out to a cracked crown, we’ll do all we can to help make your smile whole again. Avoid eating or chewing on that area until our Lebanon dentist can see you for an appointment. If you’re not in pain, schedule a visit at your earliest opportunity.
